The Grammys.  The Emmys.  The Dirtys.

Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?  We'd like to honor the people who are out there in the church creative world (which is made of marshmallows) and creating some amazing stuff and making a difference. At #dirt09, we'll be hosting an awards show that will bring you to tears, to your feet and more than likely - to the edge. We're giving away awards, prizes and your very own Dirty trophy.

So here's what we want.  We want you to nominate someone.  Anyone.  Nominate a church or a person or a video or a group of people.  From anywhere in the US (or Canada - because we love Maple Syrup) and here are the categories:

1.  Best Created-from-Scratch
2.  Worship Making a Difference
3.  Best Sermon Series
4.  Best In-Service Video

To nominate someone, all you need to do is jump on Twitter and tell us who you are nominating, and why, using the hashtag #dirt09dirtys".  You can also nominate by responding to this post by leaving a comment.

If you've ever dreamt of being a seat filler at a Major Award show - guess what.  You're a seat filler now at the Dirtys.  And we can't wait to give away some great prizes and honor people who are making some great stuff.  But we can't do it without you.  You've got to nominate your friends, your videos, your series ideas, whatever.

Let the award season begin.  We're putting our tuxedo in the Dryel bag and tossing it in the dryer right now.

Nomination for category 1 or 4:

This is a video highlighting Tiffany's battle with Retinitis Pigmentosa and how it impacts her faith. Tiffany and I shot the video on a rainy day in Texas using a home video camera and my MacBook with Final Cut Express. Just goes to show that even without the fancy toys and equipment, a great story is still a great story!

I would like to nominate Duane Loux for the 1st, 3rd, and 4th catagories. He has a passion for what he does and it shows in everything he puts his hands to. He did all the graphic work as well as filmed all city shots and people and edited it as well as wrote the script for the sermon series video.

Urban Legend
This was a fun sermon brand that used some of David Choate's art to bring in Big Foot. What really blew this away were the gigantic footprints throughout the church, even on the outside walls of the building.

Father Son Chat.
This was for a fairly conservative church, going to show you don't have to be the hot hip spot to embrace creativity. When they put a living room scene on stage, it was major for them. No pulpit? Consistency was key from worship through the sermon to really set the atmosphere. What really topped this off was the pastor's transparency.

We did a series call "oneanuther" and the second week dealt with "bearing one anothers burdens". This is the video that was shown that morning at TheCityChurch in Little Rock to represent this concept.

I'd like to nominate Rachel Richard for #1 & #3, who is amazing at taking an idea and designing what we need.

Recently she designed from scratch our series: Rumors and it was a huge hit. Simple and very nice.

I'd like to nominate for the first category a video we made completely from scratch to go along with a live cover tune performance at our church. The song helped to illustrate a point in the message about dying in Christ. The video was entirely created in After Effects and totaled over 800 layers.

We did a series called "In the Name of Love - Searching for God with U2".
We used a Bono look alike for our artwork so no copyright issues.
Each week focused a different U2 song. Lots of local interest and dozens of new guests.
